We’re proud to announce that Weisberg Legal has become an accredited Living Wage employer. We are one of 10,000 employers around the UK who have voluntarily committed to paying a real Living Wage.
Weisberg Legal is based in the South West, a region where almost a fifth of all jobs (18.1%) pay less than the real Living Wage – around 424,000 jobs. Despite this, Weisberg Legal has committed to pay the real Living Wage.
“At a time when the media is filled with stories about the rising cost of living and the forthcoming energy crisis, we felt that it was time that we put a stake in the ground and committed to paying our people fair pay for their continual hard work. By accrediting as a Living Wage employer we are also helping fund the campaign to ensure that everyone receives a real Living Wage” Commented Kieran Weisberg, founder of Weisberg Legal.
The firm has made a commitment to compensating our employees fairly, and in line with the real cost of living. We also urge any suppliers that we have ongoing contracts with, to do the same.
The real living wage is calculated annually. Overseen by the Living Wage Commission, it uses the best available data at the time and takes into consideration the cost of food, bills and rent. This is different to the UK Government’s “National Living Wage”.
In a recent update, the Commission announced that the Living Wage Campaign has put over £1.8 billion in extra wages, into the pockets of low paid workers and that 1 in 13 UK workers now work for a Living Wage Employer. However, the report has also highlighted that despite these successes, millions of people are still struggling with rising prices with 1 in 6 workers (4.8 million people) still paid below the real Living Wage.
Kieran Weisberg said: “Our people are at the heart of everything we do and we are pleased to have received accreditation as a Living Wage employer and to support their campaign to ensure that everyone receives a Living Wage. We ensure that our wages will never be lower that the independent benchmark set by the Living Wage Foundation and outlines our commitment to make sure all our people, regardless of their position, earn enough to live on and to better support their families.”
Katherine Chapman, Director, Living Wage Foundation said: “We’re delighted that Weisberg Legal has joined the movement of 10,000 responsible employers across the UK who voluntarily commit to go further than the government minimum to make sure all their staff earn enough to live on.
“They join thousands of small businesses, as well as household names such as Burberry, Barclays, Ikea and many more. These businesses recognise that paying the real Living Wage is the mark of a responsible employer and they, like Weisberg Legal, believe that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay.”
