What is the Forces Help to buy Scheme?
The Forces Help to Buy Scheme (FHTB) is a government scheme, set up to enable service personnel to borrow up to half their salary (up to £25,000), by way of an advance, to assist with buying a property. Further information can be found on gov.uk
Although initially launched as a pilot scheme, it has been extended to the end of December
2022.
Are you eligible for the Forces Help to buy Scheme?
Before applying for the Forces Help to Buy Scheme, check that you are eligible. The current eligibility criteria includes confirming whether you are:
- In regular service,
- Have served 2 years or more,
- Have at least 6 months left to serve at the station where you qualify at time of application
- In the last 12 months have not owned a property within 50 miles of the proposed purchase (exceptions will apply).
